The Master of Science in Molecular Life Sciences at Friedrich Schiller University Jena is a research-oriented programme focusing on molecular genetics, developmental biology, and cell biology in both plants and animals. The four-semester programme starts in the winter semester and is structured around three foundational modules in molecular developmental biology, molecular genetics, and molecular cell biology, followed by three advanced modules chosen from 15 elective options, a specialisation module, a project module, and the Master's thesis. In the second year of studies, students broaden their knowledge in a chosen area of specialisation through the specialisation module, which combines a practical course in research methods with a scientific project.
