Master of Science in Engineering Physics

Oldenburg, Germany Taught in English Open to international students

About the Program

The Master of Science in Engineering Physics is a joint programme offered by Carl von Ossietzky University Oldenburg and the Emden/Leer University of Applied Sciences, designed to bridge traditional physics and engineering education. The programme provides grounding in modern applied physics through four specialisations. The Biomedical Physics specialisation covers anatomy, physiology, medical radiation applications including radiotherapy and nuclear medicine, minimal invasive therapy, and imaging techniques such as ultrasound, Nuclear Magnetic Resonance, and optical tomography, with training in close cooperation with the Medical Centre for Radiotherapy and Nuclear Medicine at the Pius-Hospital Oldenburg. The Acoustics specialisation addresses audible sound, infrasound, ultrasound, structure-borne sound, and mechanical vibrations, extending to numerical modelling, signal processing, machine learning, and the perception of sound by humans. The Laser and Optics specialisation covers fibre optics, optical diagnostics, and laser applications, with several lectures and laboratory projects on laser technology conducted in Emden. The Renewable Energy specialisation focuses on the physical, technical, ICT, and economic aspects of renewable energy generation and system integration, including wind energy physics, photovoltaics, batteries, and nano-optics. The programme runs over four semesters and is offered at Carl von Ossietzky University Oldenburg in Oldenburg, Germany.
