Bachelor in Licence - Sociologie

The Licence - Sociologie (Sociology) at Université de Limoges in Limoges, France, is a three-year bachelor program that applies empirical and theoretical tools to the study of human societies and the structures, processes, and institutions that shape social life. Sociology as a discipline addresses questions of social inequality and stratification, organisations and institutions, collective identities, cultural practices, work and employment, family and kinship, urban life, and social change. Students are trained in both quantitative methods—surveys, statistical analysis, and data interpretation—and qualitative approaches including interviews, observation, and ethnographic inquiry. Major theoretical traditions from the founders of the discipline through to contemporary debates are read and discussed throughout the program, giving students a broad conceptual vocabulary for social analysis. Teaching is entirely in French. The program begins in September and runs for 3 years at a yearly tuition of 178 EUR. Sociology graduates enter careers in social research and survey work, public policy analysis, human resources, social services and community development, journalism and cultural reporting, and education. The methods training the degree provides is also valued in market research, public health, and urban planning contexts. Many graduates continue to master's programs in sociology, social work, urban studies, public health, or human resources management.
