The Bachelor's programme in International Engineering (BSc) at Technische Hochschule Mannheim is a seven-semester, English-taught programme that covers the fundamentals of natural and engineering sciences across three disciplines: electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, and process engineering. Electrical engineering topics include automation, the Internet of Things, energy technology, renewable energies, e-mobility, and autonomous driving. Mechanical engineering addresses areas such as the design of wind turbines, engine optimisation, battery research, and digital twins. Process engineering focuses on developing manufacturing processes, including biodegradable plastics and carbon dioxide removal. The programme begins with two foundational semesters in mathematics and physics alongside an introduction to all three engineering disciplines. Semesters three and four deepen interdisciplinary content including technical thermodynamics and measurement and control technology. The fifth semester is an internship that may be completed in Germany or internationally. In the sixth and seventh semesters, students select one of four specialisations: General Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Process Engineering. The General Engineering specialisation continues to be taught in English; the three subject-specific specialisations are generally taught in German and link to modules from the German-language Bachelor's programmes of the participating faculties. The programme includes optional German language training up to B1 level, with the possibility of reaching C1/DSH-2 on a voluntary basis through the university's language centre. The programme is based at Technische Hochschule Mannheim in Mannheim, with intake in the summer semester only.
