The Informatics programme at Allegheny College focuses on critical approaches to information and technology through interdisciplinary methods. Students build ethical and technical frameworks to address culturally relevant problems. The curriculum integrates computer science, communication, and humanities to examine how information shapes society. Each student develops a personalized module based on their interests.

Focus areas include Ethics and Community, Digital Media and Technology, Robotic Agents, Disease, Disability, and Difference in Popular Culture, State Capitalism in China, Extinction and the Anthropocene.

The major requires 48 credits distributed across foundational courses, advanced modules, and a two-semester Senior Comp. The Senior Comp includes INFM 600 and INFM 610, where students propose and complete an original project.

Graduates work as data analysts, technical leaders, and researchers in technology, public policy, and digital media sectors.

Applicants must meet general college admission requirements. A strong foundation in mathematics and computer science is recommended. Submit official transcripts, standardized test scores if required, and a personal statement.
