Bachelor in History (Bachelor's)

King’s College has 1,945 undergraduate and graduate students, with 60% living on campus. Student life includes more than 40 clubs and organizations, 28 NCAA Division III teams, nine intramural and club sports, theatre, choir, and art exhibitions. Students also complete more than 100,000 annual hours of service, with three annual SERVE trips in the United States and abroad. The college welcomes students of all faiths and backgrounds.

Founded by the Congregation of Holy Cross from the University of Notre Dame, King’s combines Catholic education with more than 70 academic programs, including undergraduate, graduate, and certificate options. Programs span business, accounting, biology, biochemistry and molecular biology, athletic training, genetic counseling, and other fields. Classes average 15 students in major programs and 22 in the CORE curriculum. The full-time faculty-to-student ratio is 13:1, 92% of faculty have a Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree, and 61% hold tenure.

The campus has seven residential facilities, four on-campus restaurants, the George P. Maffei II Theatre, and the Widmann Art Gallery. Wilkes-Barre is a small city with restaurants, arts and sports venues, parks, trails, and slopes, with access to Philadelphia and Trenton in about two hours and New York City and Baltimore in about three. King’s offers study-abroad programs in 40 countries. Graduates are qualified to pursue law school, secondary social studies teaching, or careers in museums, archives, and historical agencies. The programme emphasizes historical research, critical analysis of sources, and effective communication of complex ideas. Students engage in original research, present findings at conferences, and complete internships in local historical societies, government offices, and law firms. The curriculum integrates classroom learning with real-world applications through service learning and study abroad experiences.

The programme requires a total of 120 credits, distributed across core courses in U.S., Western, and global history, upper-division seminars, and research-based coursework. Students complete a capstone research project and may take part in internships and study abroad programs.

Graduates enter law school, secondary and college-level teaching, government service, museum and archive management, journalism, and business leadership roles.

Applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent. A minimum GPA of 2.5 is required. Submission of official transcripts and a completed application form is necessary.

The programme totals about 120 credit hours. On-campus, full-time, four-year programme. For international students, tuition is above the median for US programmes. The institution admits about 93% of applicants.
