Bachelor in Global Communication and Management (GCM)

Overview:

Zhejiang University International Business School (ZIBS) offers a Bachelor of Arts degree program in Global Communications and Management (GCM), enrolling students from 2020. The program may be completed in four years of study.

Adhering to the long-standing international teaching philosophy of Zhejiang University, the GCM program is committed to training entrepreneurs and future business leaders who combine interdisciplinary knowledge, expertise in financial and business analysis, and a deep understanding of China's business environment to excel in China and compete globally. Students will graduate with bilingual proficiency in Chinese and English, cross-cultural communication skills and a solid foundation of knowledge about China. Equipped with the fundamentals of communication and management, students will be able to succeed in multinational corporations and Chinese enterprises in the fields of management, business, communications and marketing and will be well-equipped to serve as a bridge between China and the world.

Program Features:

1) Interdisciplinary business program: The program of GCM is Zhejiang University's first undergraduate business program to welcome international students. The trailblazing program is also the first of its kind to combine management, finance, communication, and China studies into an interdisciplinary platform for international undergraduate students.

2) Applied and bilingual curriculum: Practical courses in Chinese language and culture, communications, finance, and global business are offered. English is the primary language of instruction, with Chinese being used in applied settings and research. Cross-cultural communication is stressed throughout the program.     

3) World-class learning environment: The Zhejiang University International Campus, where the program is located, is a model for international cooperation and integration of Eastern and Western styles of education. The campus brings together prestigious Chinese and foreign professors and a large international student community and admits several hundred highly qualified Chinese high school students each year.     

4) Outstanding platform for practical experience and development: Beyond the classroom, ZIBS provides exceptional opportunities for professional practice, industry internships, and cultural experiences. ZIBS has established strategic partnerships with Ant Financial and other leading firms, providing students the ability to participate in a 6+ month practical training program in world-leading firms.

Academic Regulations:

GCM is a full-time program and requires students to accumulate at least 140 credits over 4 years. Course offerings include topics such as the Chinese language, Chinese culture, contemporary China studies, intercultural communication, finance, business, and management. Students will also engage in an internship during their course of study.

GCM is hosted at Zhejiang University Haining International Campus and is administered by ZIBS. The Zhejiang University International Campus Residential College provides students with private, single-person rooms in dormitories and is responsible for student services. The Zhejiang University College of Media and International Culture provides academic support, professional assessment, and other services.

Scholarships:

All new students are eligible to apply for a ZIBS scholarship, with an award of up to 30% of tuition. The scholarship will be awarded based on applicants’ transcripts in senior high school, interview performance, and potential contributions. Part-time administrative positions are available at ZIBS. By cooperating with Academy of Internet Finance and Institute of China Studies, Zhejiang University, ZIBS currently offers an International Master of Business Administration (iMBA) program with two tracks: Fin-Tech Industry Management and International Management; ZIBS also offers the track of China Business Studies under the Master of China Studies which is tailor-made for international students. Their Executive Education Center provides programs across a wide range of topics, both for open enrollment and customized corporate needs. Programs are taught on their campuses in Hangzhou, Haining, Shanghai and globally.

Location

The International Campus is situated in Haining, within Zhejiang Province and under the jurisdiction of Jiaxing. It is only 35 minutes by highspeed train from bustling Shanghai, and 20 minutes from the beautiful Hangzhou. The city has a population of more than 800,000 inhabitants and is known mainly for its leather industry, science park, colorful lanterns and spectacular boreal tide in Qiantang River.

Haining was voted in the top 10 of the Forbes survey of mainland China top county-level cities and was ranked 18th in the China top 100 cities list. It is a rapidly growing city, with new stores and hotels being built every day. New, high-end stores like Prada and Gucci are making their way into the city, with its growing international community. The Hangzhou subway is being extended to Haining, with a stop adjacent to the International Campus, making access to Hangzhou and the main ZJU campus even more accessible.

Alongside the beautiful old town, Haining also has a range of tourist spots including large shopping malls, the leather markets, cinemas, museums, gorgeous parks and a variety of bars and nightclubs.

Campus

Zhejiang University International Campus is located north of Juanhu Park in Haining, covering 200 acres. It is an extraordinary international community full of creativity, energy and entrepreneurial spirit. Students not only enjoy international standard liberal arts and professional education but also have the opportunity to work with partners around the world, in a rich and colorful living environment.

Food Services

ZIBS has three canteens in their campus: Large Canteen, Halal restaurant, and their Fusion Café. The canteen offers a large mix of western and Chinese style food served daily. The Halal restaurant offers a variety of halal food and has late opening hours. Students, faculty, and staff come together to enjoy the culinary offering of both East and West.

Library Services

Students in ZIBS have access to a wide range of library resources, from books and journals to electronic databases and articles. Next to the Bell Tower, the library is one of the landmarks of the International Campus. Standing by the northeast side of the central lake, it is an elegant three-floor octagonal building occupying 9606 square meters, with six hundred seats and thousands of books.

Gymnasium

The gym offers a variety of quality equipment and is open from 9 am to 9 pm each day. The Olympic-sized swimming pool is open from May to September each year. There are a large number of sporting facilities on campus, including badminton, tennis, squash, basketball, football and more. Facilities are open for personal use at any time.
