The Art (Studio) major at Centre College prepares students to work as professional artists or pursue advanced study in visual arts. Students develop technical and creative abilities across multiple media including drawing, painting, photography, ceramics, and hot glass. The programme emphasizes hands-on learning through studio practice, research, and internships. Senior students present a final exhibition in the AEGON Gallery at the Jones Visual Arts Center.

The major requires a total of 36 credits, distributed across foundational courses, advanced studio work, and a senior exhibition. Students complete required courses in all major media and select electives based on their interests.

Graduates enter careers as professional artists, creative directors, studio managers, professors of art, architects, graphic designers, pastry chefs, and photographers.

Applicants must submit a high school transcript, standardized test scores if required, and a portfolio of original artwork. Admission is competitive and based on academic record and creative potential.
