About the Program

Drake University's Finance major equips students with skills in financial analysis and management to help businesses and individuals achieve economic goals. It focuses on principles for selecting investments, developing portfolios, raising funds, and making organizational decisions. As a CFA Institute® University Affiliated Program, the curriculum emphasizes best practices followed by finance professionals and prepares students for the CFA exam.

Focus areas include investment management, corporate finance, personal financial planning, financial institutions management, financial data analytics.

The program requires 120 total credits, with 78-78.5 credits for the major and business core. The curriculum integrates financial and data analytics tools and covers the CFA Program Candidate Body of Knowledge, alongside a comprehensive business core covering marketing, accounting, management, business law, economics, and strategy.

Graduates embark on roles as financial managers, investment advisors, security analysts, consultants, and financial planners.
