This programme prepares registered nurses to become family nurse practitioners focused on primary care for patients from infancy to adulthood. Students take advanced courses and complete clinical training to provide health services in outpatient and community settings. The programme is offered online with mandatory in-person sessions. Graduates qualify to take the national certification exam for family nurse practitioners.

The programme requires 48 credit hours and 500 clinical hours, completed over five semesters. It includes online coursework and scheduled immersions for hands-on training.

Graduates work as licensed family nurse practitioners in primary care clinics, community health centers, and private practices.

Applicants must hold a current RN license and a bachelor's degree in nursing. A minimum GPA of 3.0 is required. Submission of official transcripts, a resume, and letters of recommendation is required.

The programme totals about 48 credit hours. Online with scheduled immersions, full-time, 18 months. For international students, tuition is below the median for US programmes. The institution admits about 57% of applicants.

Professional nursing is the central academic focus at Mount Carmel College of Nursing. For well over a century, the college has supported lifelong learning in the science of professional nursing. Its programs include undergraduate nursing, graduate nursing, post-graduate nursing certificates and a Doctor of Nursing Practice. Students can also study radiologic technology. Traditional undergraduate study is available for students without previous college attendance. The college also provides an online RN-to-BSN program and graduate programs with online study and immersions. An academic partnership with Ohio Wesleyan University provides another pathway into the BSN.
