Bachelor in Environmental Studies (Bachelor's)

The College of Wooster is a residential college in Wooster, Ohio, with students from 75 countries. With 98% of students living on campus for all four years, community life is closely connected to the college's traditions and activities. Students can join more than 90 organizations, attend more than 70 stage performances each year, or take part in 23 NCAA Division III teams and club and intramural sports. Wooster's academic program covers more than 80 areas of study, including biology, business economics, political science, education, and the arts. Classes average 13 students, and professors work closely with students throughout their studies. Every student completes a year-long, mentored capstone project on a topic of their own choosing. International applicants must submit an essay, official secondary school transcript, Secondary School Report with counselor recommendation, teacher recommendation, proof of English proficiency, and Wooster International Certification of Finances. The college follows a test-optional admissions policy for applicants, and 99% of admitted students receive some form of aid. Merit scholarships can range from partial to full tuition, with awards guaranteed for up to eight semesters.

Students conduct field research and participate in campus sustainability projects using the Abbey Arboretum and campus garden as living laboratories. They engage in faculty-led research, internships, and community partnerships across environmental science, policy, and social justice. The programme integrates natural sciences, social sciences, and humanities to analyze environmental challenges. Students complete an original Independent Study project under faculty supervision.

The major requires 36 credits distributed across core courses, pathway-specific courses, and an Independent Study project. Students complete coursework in environmental science, social sciences, and humanities with a focus on interdisciplinary application.
