About the Program

The Environmental Engineering BEng qualifies students for careers in environmental technology and engineering, with a focus on sustainability and the digital transformation of society. The programme covers fundamentals of engineering and natural sciences, natural cycles in water, soil, and air, energy systems, circular economy principles, energy efficiency, environmental analysis, and methods for developing solutions to environmental engineering challenges. The 7-semester programme starts in the winter semester. The first two semesters cover engineering fundamentals including mathematics, mechanics, computer science, and materials science. Semesters three and four introduce core specialisations in thermodynamics, environmental chemistry, reaction technology, microbiology, tap water treatment, hydrology, and environmental economics. Semesters five and six advance into hydraulics, modelling, wastewater treatment, circular economy, and five elective modules. The seventh semester consists of a compulsory internship and the Bachelor's thesis, often completed in collaboration with industry partners.
