Bachelor in English and American Studies

This six-semester bachelor's programme in English and American Studies spans linguistics, literary studies, cultural studies, and academic English, with a particular focus on Great Britain, North America, and post-colonial anglophone regions. Students develop the ability to identify relevant research questions and apply appropriate methods across these fields, engaging independently with linguistic, literary, and cultural material. The first year introduces the primary methods and concepts used in anglophone literary and cultural studies and the English language. In the advanced and focus modules, students deepen their knowledge and apply the skills acquired in the foundational stage through thematic seminars. Students following the major programme create an individual specialisation profile across two focus modules, which may be taken in Literary Studies, Cultural Studies, or Linguistics. The programme admits students in both the winter and summer semester. The programme is offered at the University of Tübingen in Tübingen, Germany.
