Students complete field placements in public school classrooms across elementary and middle levels as part of at least three courses. They also design and carry out an independent community-based internship in a setting of their choice. The program emphasizes culturally responsive teaching and examines how societal factors influence learning. It prepares students for graduate-level teacher certification through two pathways: a traditional or accelerated Master of Arts in Teaching track.

The degree requires a total of 120 credits. Students complete coursework in educational foundations, field experiences in public schools, and an independent internship. The program does not lead to teacher certification and is not structured as a concentration within a larger degree.
