Master in Data Analytics (MSc)

Data Analytics is a four-semester international master's programme at the University of Hildesheim that trains students in machine learning, big data technologies, and statistical analysis, with application-oriented knowledge from domains including natural language processing, business administration, psychology, and climate science. Teaching is integrated with ongoing research and industry practice. The curriculum accounts for 120 credit points and is divided into a methodological core (65%), an application area (10%), and a Master's thesis (25%). Core compulsory modules include Machine Learning, Modern Optimisation Techniques, Big Data Analytics, Advanced Machine Learning, Planning and Optimal Control, and Data and Privacy Protection, alongside laboratory courses and seminars. A year-long supervised research project runs across two semesters, giving students hands-on experience with advanced machine learning topics. Application modules cover interdisciplinary fields, and methodological specialisation courses extend into areas such as computer vision, time series analysis, and similar topics. An Advanced Track is available for students who have already covered core compulsory modules in their Bachelor's studies, allowing them to substitute these with additional specialisation courses. Entry is available in both winter and summer semesters. The programme is based at the University of Hildesheim in Hildesheim, Germany.
