This is a 60-credit hour year-round doctoral program delivered primarily in the evenings from 3 to 6 p.m. It is designed for licensed counselors and master’s level mental health professionals. Students can complete the degree in four to five years, with an accelerated track available. The program focuses on training culturally competent counselor educators and supervisors through practicum and internship experiences in the university’s Counseling & Wellness Center.

Focus areas include Supervision in Counselor Education, Instructional Strategies in Counselor Education & Supervision, Advanced Multicultural & Social Justice Counseling and Supervision, Advanced Statistics in Counselor Education & Supervision, Quantitative Research Methods and Design, Applied Qualitative Analysis.

The program requires 60 semester hours, including coursework, a counseling practicum, internships, and a dissertation. Students complete a series of internships and a practicum at the University’s Counseling & Wellness Center.

Graduates work as counselor educators, supervisors, researchers, administrators, and practitioners in academic and clinical settings.

Applicants must hold a master’s degree in Counseling or a related field with a minimum 3.30 GPA. They must be licensed or license-eligible as a Licensed Professional Counselor in Wisconsin. Required materials include transcripts, three letters of recommendation, a CV, an application essay, a license copy, and a criminal background check.
