Community Policing

The Community Policing program at Canadore College is a non-degree course for students who want to learn about community policing theory and models. It lasts several weeks and is taught in English. This program helps students understand how to build strong relationships between law enforcement and the community.

The curriculum covers problem-solving models, alternative dispute resolution strategies, and community development. Students will learn about public relations and police community relations, and how to involve the community in dispute resolution. This course includes hands-on components to help students develop their skills.

After completing this program, students can pursue careers as Police Officers, Community Liaisons, or Mediators. They can work in law enforcement agencies, government organizations, or non-profit companies. Some students may also find jobs as Youth Workers or Correctional Officers, helping to make their communities safer and more supportive.
