Abdullah Gül University

Bachelor in Civil Engineering

Kayseri, Turkey Taught in English Open to international students

About the Program

Civil Engineering covers the design, construction, and maintenance of infrastructure such as buildings, roads, bridges, and water systems that make up the built environment. Coursework includes structural analysis, geotechnical engineering, construction materials, fluid mechanics, and surveying, along with construction management and project planning topics. Students learn how loads and forces act on structures, how soil conditions affect foundation design, and how construction materials such as concrete and steel behave under different conditions, applying mechanics and materials science to practical design problems. Laboratory work involves testing construction materials, while computer-aided design tools are used throughout coursework to develop and refine structural and infrastructure designs. Many programs also cover transportation engineering, water resources engineering, and environmental considerations relevant to construction projects, reflecting the breadth of modern civil engineering practice. Group design projects give students experience managing a project from initial site analysis through design and construction planning, mirroring how civil engineering work is organized in practice. Safety codes and engineering standards are emphasized throughout, since civil engineers bear responsibility for structures that must meet strict regulatory requirements. Graduates work for construction companies, engineering consultancies, government infrastructure agencies, and real estate development firms, in roles including design engineer, site engineer, and project manager. This bachelor's program is taught in English over 4 years at Abdullah Gül University in Kayseri, Turkey. English-medium instruction gives students familiarity with international engineering codes and technical standards referenced widely across the profession. The four-year sequence builds from foundational mechanics and materials coursework toward specialized design coursework in structural, geotechnical, or transportation engineering during the later years.
