Leipzig, Germany Taught in English Open to international students

About the Program

The Master of Science in Child Development and Intervention at Leipzig University is a two-year, English-taught programme that begins each winter semester. It focuses on understanding and supporting the healthy development of children, drawing on clinical-developmental theory, analytical methods, and practical intervention science. The curriculum is organised around three core modules. The research module builds foundations in developmental theory and statistical methods relevant to childhood and intervention studies across diverse contexts. The research-practice module trains students in strengths-based and science-based assessment, intervention, and prevention techniques targeting children's social-emotional development and mental health in settings such as schools and ambulatory care centres. The policy module addresses how research findings can be translated into accessible materials and directives for children, families, educators, clinicians, and policy makers. Subjects across the programme include empirical methods and statistics, psychopathology, science communication and public outreach, and intervention and prevention methods, among others. The programme comprises 120 credit points, including a Master's thesis (25 CP) and a compulsory four-week applied research internship (5 CP). The programme is based at Leipzig University, in Leipzig, Germany.
