Students conduct original research in faculty-mentored labs from their first year, using equipment like X-ray crystallography and NMR spectrometers. They study biological molecules through rigorous coursework and hands-on lab work focused on experimental design and data interpretation. The program integrates chemistry and biology to explore the molecular basis of life with a strong emphasis on practical scientific skills. Graduates are prepared for medical school, graduate study, or careers in pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, and related industries.

Focus areas include Water remediation and green synthetic technologies, Environmentally friendly biofuel synthesis, Synthetic biology and unnatural amino acids, Biochemistry of DNA replication and repair.

The program requires 132 credit hours, distributed across core courses, laboratory work, and undergraduate research. Students complete a research project with a faculty mentor and fulfill requirements for a STEM-designated degree.

Graduates pursue careers in pharmaceutical research, biotechnology, clinical laboratories, and graduate programs in science and medicine.
