About the Program

The Baroque Trumpet Certificate is a non-degree program for students who want to develop their performance and interpretation skills for the natural trumpet. It's a one-year program at the University of Kentucky that helps students master the stylistic aspects of Baroque music. The program's main advantage is that it prepares students to perform music from the Baroque era on the natural trumpet.

The curriculum focuses on studying primary sources from the Baroque era, prominent secondary sources on Baroque interpretation, and preparing and performing music from the Baroque era on the natural trumpet. Students will develop skills in performance, interpretation, and musicology. They will also learn about the history and significance of the Baroque trumpet.

Graduates of this program can pursue careers as orchestral musicians, chamber musicians, music educators, or historical performance specialists. They can work with orchestras, chamber music ensembles, or as freelance musicians. Some possible job titles include Natural Trumpet Specialist, Baroque Music Performer, or Musicologist.
