This programme prepares students to teach in elementary schools from kindergarten to grade six. It focuses on child development, teaching methods, and subject knowledge across core disciplines. Students complete field experiences in K-6 classrooms during years three and four. The programme is delivered collaboratively between Keyano College and the University of Alberta.

Focus areas include Child Development, Teaching Methods, Elementary Subjects, Inclusive Education, Aboriginal Education, Curriculum and Pedagogy.

4 years (8 terms), 120 credits, includes field experiences in years 3 and 4.

Graduates are prepared to work as elementary school teachers, inclusive education teachers, ESL/EAL educators, instructional coaches, or curriculum coordinators.

High school diploma or equivalent with minimum 60% average and no mark below 50% in English 30-1 and three subjects from Groups A or C. Math 30-1 or Math 30-2 is highly recommended. English language proficiency required: TOEFL iBT 86 (no less than 21), IELTS 6.5 (no less than 5.0), CAEL 70, MELAB 85, Duolingo 115, or PTE 58.
