The BA Architecture at Berlin International University of Applied Sciences is an 8-semester programme taught entirely in English. It trains students to develop design solutions with an understanding of the relationships between the built environment, technology, art, and geographical, social, sociocultural, and political contexts. The structure moves from broad foundations to focused specialisation. The first year covers basic design skills, structural and construction fundamentals, visualisation, and architectural history. The second year deepens structural and material knowledge through architectural design projects, urban design, and theoretical study. In the third year, students work on interdisciplinary projects with peers from other programmes, engage with real-life clients, and develop research and elective coursework. The final semester is dedicated to a Bachelor's thesis and a Bachelor's design project on a topic of the student's own choosing. Architecture is a protected profession in Germany; use of the title "Architect" requires professional practice and registration with the Chamber of Architects after graduation.
