About the Program

Graduates of the AI Biostatistics and Bioinformatics master programme are positioned to contribute to advancements in building biology, indoor health, and related sectors, with alumni often pursuing careers in research, public health, and material science. The programme is located within the TTZ Building Biology, Airway and Indoor Health, and focuses on the implementation of artificial intelligence (AI) and biostatistical and bioinformatic methods in data analysis, providing robust statistical and computational support for research activities, including basic research, applied research, and transfer.

Our mission is to develop AI-powered models that can decipher the complex relationships between building materials, indoor environments, and human health. For example, students will work with data from air quality sensors to identify biomarkers for building-related illnesses, leading to the development of rapid and accurate diagnostic tests. Other key research areas include personalized building ecology and the optimization of material selection, building design, and control systems to enhance indoor environmental quality (IEQ, IAQ).

Our expertise spans biostatistics, epidemiology, and spatial statistics, applied in the context of building biology. Through the collaboration with architects, engineers, materials scientists, and healthcare experts, this programme actively contributes to translating research findings into practical applications and solutions to inform building standards and regulations.
