Pick a one-year master's at Domus Academy and the choice isn't just which subject, it's which qualification. The Academic Master's runs 11 months over 60 ECTS; the Dual Award adds a Regent's University London degree, three more months of study, and a higher fee at every level, from EU & Switzerland (EUR 23,900 versus EUR 27,900) to non-EU (EUR 28,900 versus EUR 32,900). The 2-year Master of Arts sits outside that split entirely, at EUR 17,200 to EUR 22,200 a year.

It's a private, English-medium design, fashion and business school in Milan, not a public Italian university on an income-tested fee ladder. Every band above already folds in the EUR 3,000 pre-enrolment charge rather than adding it on top of tuition later, and that receipt is due within 30 days of your acceptance-letter date. The remaining balance falls due 3 months before your course starts. Continuing students face a second calendar entirely: the Accountant Office communicates re-enrolment terms and the following year's balance deadlines separately, around June and July.

Domus's fee model is a flat band by programme type and student category rather than an Italian ISEE income scale — the EU & Switzerland versus non-EU split is the only variable that changes what you owe, not your family's declared income. The Milan campus spans 13 buildings in the Navigli district at Via Carlo Darwin 20, with a Fashion Lab (sewing machines, mannequins, irons, cutting tables and fabric stock), a Design Lab with 3D printers and other production equipment, a library, student workstations, network services, a help desk and The Corner cafeteria. Domus's own housing FAQ gives realistic Milan numbers rather than a generic city average: a room in a shared flat or residence runs EUR 500–1,200/month, a studio or one-bedroom flat EUR 800–1,500/month, plus EUR 100–150/month more if utilities, internet and building charges aren't already included. Milan Housing, the school's placement partner, keeps an office on campus alongside partner agencies, residences and co-living operators.

Outside class, Milan itself is part of the pitch: four Fashion Weeks a year, an International Design Week, over 900 fashion and design showrooms, and more than 1,400 startups in the city give design and fashion students a working industry on their doorstep rather than a case study.

A student visa typically permits part-time work of up to 20 hours a week, and Domus notes that some students earn EUR 500–800/month doing it — useful pocket money, not something to build a budget around.

Domus's Doxa 2025 Placement Survey puts graduate employment at 91% within one year (excluding alumni pursuing further study or not seeking work), 94% job satisfaction, a job search of less than 100 days, and a payback period of 16–21 months on the fees above. Those three figures track three separate stages of the same job hunt: the 91% is whether an offer arrives inside a year, the 94% is whether graduates are glad they took it, and the 16–21 month payback is how long the degree takes to pay for itself against local salaries.

The Career Service runs Career Gym sessions on designer identity, CV writing, portfolio presentation, social media and interview technique, plus Career Days that bring in professionals, HR consultants, recruiters and headhunters. Every master's programme also builds in a Professional Experience option in its fifth module (the sixth for BA students) — either a company internship or a supervised field-learning placement as a consultant, overseen jointly by a Programme Leader and a Company Tutor.

Non-EU citizens need a valid passport and, where required, a visa simply to enter Italy at all, before any of the student-specific steps below begin. For study, that means a STUDIO-type national visa (type D, per Immatricolazione Università) for every Domus programme. The first step is pre-enrolment on Universitaly, the free official MUR portal, which is the exclusive channel for pre-enrolment to Italian higher-education institutions — Domus itself directs all visa-seeking students there before the consular visa application.

For the 2026/27 intake, visa applications for degree-type courses must reach the competent consulate by 30 November 2026 (31 October 2027 for 2027/28); master's, doctorate, Erasmus, single-course and foundation-course visas carry no fixed national deadline but must be lodged before teaching starts. Once in Italy, non-EU students must request their permesso di soggiorno within 8 working days of arrival, via the Post Office as Domus instructs; first issue and renewal average 60 days from submission.

Financial proof follows Polizia di Stato's published table for stays over 20 days: EUR 206.58 fixed plus EUR 27.89 per day for one applicant, or EUR 118.79 fixed plus EUR 17.04 per day each for two or more applicants travelling together.

EU/EEA citizens skip the visa and residence-permit process entirely, but anyone staying more than 3 months to study must still register with the local municipality and show enrolment at Domus, sufficient financial resources, and health insurance covering all risks in Italy.
