Ajman University runs every one of its 46 currently active programmes — 26 undergraduate, 18 graduate and 2 doctoral, spread across 9 colleges — under UAE Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research accreditation, and admission is decided college by college rather than through a single national exam. Each college sets its own subject thresholds on top of your Grade 12 average: 90% in Math and two sciences for Medicine and Dentistry, 80% for Pharmacy and most Engineering tracks, 75% for Artificial Intelligence and Data Analytics, 70% for Information Systems and Law. Medicine, Dental Surgery and Pharmacy applicants also sit a college interview before a seat is confirmed.

Merit is rewarded aggressively once you're admitted: a 90%+ high-school average earns a 20% discount on your first semester's tuition outside Medicine and Dentistry, a 99%+ average earns 30%, and ranking first nationwide or in the Emirate of Ajman waives tuition entirely for the whole degree. That scale, plus 61 English-taught programmes spanning fields from Dentistry to Artificial Intelligence, suits an applicant choosing UAE study on strong grades rather than a national entrance-exam score.

The one place tuition breaks from the per-credit pattern entirely is Medicine, billed as a flat AED 127,050 a year rather than per credit hour — worth flagging before comparing it directly against Dentistry, Pharmacy or Engineering's per-credit rates further down this page.

Most Ajman University tuition is billed per credit hour in AED rather than as one annual figure, and the range is wide: AED 625 per credit for the Professional Postgraduate Diploma in Teaching up to AED 6,157 per credit for the Doctorate of Clinical Dentistry in Prosthodontics. Curriculum tuition itself is zero-rated for VAT, but the fees around it — student services and the ID card — carry 5% VAT on top of the listed amount. Payment is spread rather than due in full up front: an advance payment secures registration, and Fall payment deadline A falls on 5 October with deadline B on 5 December (Spring runs 5 March and 5 May instead); missing deadline A adds the AED 500 late fee, and missing deadline B on top of that adds a AED 1,500 reinstatement charge. An approved instalment plan splits the remaining balance into four 25% payments due 5 September, 5 October, 5 November and 5 December for Fall — 5 February, 5 March, 5 April and 5 May for Spring — rather than asking for the whole semester at once.

Because almost every fee is quoted per credit hour rather than per year, two students in the same college can pay very different totals depending only on how many credits they carry that semester; a full-time bachelor's load and a lighter part-time schedule are not the same bill even at the identical per-credit rate. On-campus housing splits by gender and room type. Male residence runs from AED 3,810 per main semester for a triple-bed room up to AED 8,965 for a master or non-master single room, with two twin-bed tiers at AED 4,960 and AED 4,210; summer rates for the same rooms range from AED 1,405 to AED 3,458.

Ajman University's Student Life area runs residence life and housing, counselling, health services, transportation, student success and inclusive-learning support alongside the dorms. Room choice mostly comes down to privacy versus cost: a single-bed studio or master room runs close to double a shared triple-bed room in the same residence, and every room type drops to a lower summer-term rate outside the main Fall and Spring semesters. Booking runs through the same admission channel as the rest of your file, so applicants who want a specific room type are better off contacting the Office of Student Housing as soon as they accept an offer rather than after arrival, since the cheaper triple-bed and twin-bed tiers are the ones most likely to fill first.

AU's strongest published outcome numbers track progress through the degree rather than what happens after it, which is still useful for comparing UAE universities on a public, verifiable track record. The university-wide undergraduate progression rate reached 94% in Fall 2024-2025, up from 89% in Fall 2020-2021, and the undergraduate graduation rate within 1.5 times standard programme duration hit 81.63% for the Fall 2019 cohort, up from 74.00% for the Fall 2015 cohort. A steady rise across those academic years on both measures is one of the few concrete, longitudinal signals a university publishes about its own teaching quality, rather than a single snapshot figure.

Studying at Ajman University runs on one of two UAE residence-visa routes: sponsorship by a UAE-resident parent, or sponsorship by AU itself as the accredited university. Either way, the UAE Government requires a certificate from AU specifying your programme's duration as part of the residence-visa application, on top of the general residence-visa provisions every applicant must meet.

Parent sponsorship carries its own age rule: expatriate residents can sponsor male children up to age 25, and male students over 25 can keep that sponsorship only by showing evidence they're attending a higher-education institute; female children can stay on parent sponsorship for study regardless of age, until marriage.
