Master in Sustainability Management and Technologies (SMT)

The Master's programme in Sustainability Management and Technologies (SMT) focuses on embedding sustainability at the core of business operations, with technology as an enabling factor. The curriculum integrates three thematic clusters: Sustainability Science and Technology, Sustainability Management, and Social Sustainability and Social Skills. Modules include Sustainable Business Strategy and Entrepreneurship, Circular Economy and Life Cycle Management, and Metrics and Analytics for Sustainability, among others. All subjects emphasise practical case studies and projects. Voluntary language courses complement the technical and management content. The programme runs over four semesters on a full-time basis and admits 30 students per year, starting in the summer semester. The first semester builds foundational knowledge in life cycle thinking, circularity, performance management, and the societal dimensions of technology. The second deepens knowledge in sustainable leadership and relevant technologies. The third extends into sustainable finance, climate-related technologies, and urban ecology, and includes a sustainability project. The Master's thesis is completed in the fourth semester. The programme is designed for students who want to build careers in internationally active businesses, self-employment, or research programmes focused on the integration of management, sustainability, and technology. It is located at Technische Hochschule Ingolstadt in Neuburg an der Donau, Germany.
