Master in Philosophy

One of the Master's degree programmes in philosophy offered at the Institute of Philosophy, Cardinal Stefan Wyszynski University in Warsaw, is aimed at graduate students interested in the philosophical and cultural legacy of Central and Eastern Europe. Taught in English, the programme gives students the chance to engage with the experience and thought of people from this region, building knowledge, skills, and competencies connected to the philosophy and culture of Central and Eastern Europe, and it leads to a master's degree in philosophy. According to the programme, all lectures and classes are conducted in English, and a distinguishing feature is its attention to the processes that have shaped the identity and culture of Central and Eastern Europe over many centuries. Teaching staff include philosophers and other academics from countries across the region, among them Poland, Slovakia, Croatia, the Czech Republic, and Hungary. The programme includes visits to cultural centres such as museums and exhibitions in Warsaw, with classes carried out partly on-site and partly through e-learning. Some scholarships are available to cover accommodation and catering costs for candidates from abroad who are among the first enrolled in the programme. The programme is certified by the Polish Accreditation Committee and has also received a "Studies of the Future" certificate from an associated foundation. Warsaw, Poland's capital, gives students access to museums, archives, and cultural institutions relevant to the study of Central and Eastern European philosophy and culture, complementing the programme's mix of seminar teaching, guest academics from the region, and on-site cultural engagement built into the Institute of Philosophy's curriculum.
