About the Program

The University of Warsaw's Philosophy bachelor's program runs three years and is delivered in English through the Philosophy in the Social and Economic Sciences track within the university's Institute of Philosophy. The program aims to build intellectual abilities that the discipline is meant to train more than most others: understanding new information, interpreting the behavior of individuals and societies, and forming a coherent view of the world along with a sense of the aims of human life. The curriculum includes a set of required subjects: Introduction to Philosophy, Ontology, Logic I (General Methodology and Introduction to Formal Logic), Ancient and Medieval Philosophy, Recent Polish Philosophy (the Lviv-Warsaw School), Epistemology, Logic II (Formal Logic) or Logical Semiotics, Modern Philosophy, Latin, Analytic Philosophy, Current Continental Philosophy, and Ethics. Students on this track also take part in English-language seminars, proseminars, and elective courses offered as part of the Institute's Polish-language program. Graduates are described by many employers as valuable hires, finding roles in educational institutions, publishing houses, and the media on one side, and in government offices, political organizations, and local government institutions on the other. Non-native English speakers who complete the program also gain English proficiency through their coursework, which broadens the range of employers open to them after graduation. Yearly tuition is EUR 2,000. Warszawa, Poland's capital, hosts one of the country's oldest and largest universities, with an academic environment that draws both domestic and international students. Beyond this specific curriculum, philosophy training generally sharpens argumentation, close reading, and structured writing, skills that transfer well into law, policy work, consulting, and further graduate study in the humanities or social sciences.
