About the Program

The Bachelor's programme in Nature-Inspired Materials at Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences combines chemistry, materials science, and biology to prepare students for work on materials that are inspired by or derived from nature. The programme covers developments, processes, and products across basic engineering materials, and gives particular emphasis to natural, biodegradable, and biocompatible materials as well as recycling and ecological considerations. The first three semesters establish a solid foundation in science and engineering. The sixth semester is devoted to a practical placement with a company or organisation in the biomaterials field. The seventh semester is dedicated to writing the Bachelor's thesis, supported by block courses in research writing skills and concluded with an oral presentation of findings. Graduate application fields include the leisure industry, environmental industry, aerospace and automotive industries, and medicine. The programme is taught at Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences in Kleve, Germany.
