Master in Media and Diversity Studies

Collegium Civitas in Warszawa offers Media and Diversity Studies as a master's program taught in English, running two years (four semesters) with yearly tuition of 7700 PLN. The program combines media and communication studies with the study of socio-cultural diversity, socio-economic inequality, and the intersections between age, race, gender, disability, religion and sexual orientation. Students examine what diversity means and its various dimensions, engage with the concept of intersectionality, and explore how media and journalism can be used to counter discrimination, including cross-discrimination. Coursework addresses how to communicate diversity, what language to use, and how to build inclusive communication strategies, drawing on articles, books, television series and films to identify good and poor practices in representing minority groups before students create their own representations. The curriculum groups courses into three categories: general knowledge courses such as Approaches to Social and Cultural Diversity and Stereotypes and Prejudice; diversity-focused courses covering disability, gender, ethnic minority, queer and age topics; and media and communication courses such as Social Communication, Media and Communication Research, Ethics in Media, and Media Releases Analysis. Teaching emphasizes active methods including workshops and case studies. Graduates leave with knowledge and skills spanning social research and social communication, positioning them for careers in media organizations, NGOs, communications departments and research institutions where understanding of diversity and inclusive communication is increasingly valued across public and private sector employers.
