Master's Programme in Architecture

Rostock, Germany Taught in German Open to international students

About the Program

The Master's in Architecture at Hochschule Wismar University of Applied Sciences focuses on design as the central activity throughout all four semesters. Each of the first three semesters is anchored by a large integrated design project that draws together knowledge from multiple specialisations, including green building, ecology, economy, socio-cultural analysis, technology, and digitalisation. Students also choose from elective modules to broaden or deepen their focus. The programme is project-based and modular, with interdisciplinary teaching running from the first semester to the last. Three large integrated design projects are completed in total, alongside ten elective courses and six smaller projects. Students build their own timetables by selecting courses at the start of each semester, guided by a personal mentor from among the professors. The final semester is dedicated to the Master's thesis. Main specialisation fields are Architectural Design Research, Green Architecture, and Architecture in Context. Admission is based on a selection procedure assessing a written application, motivation letter, and portfolio. The programme begins in either winter or summer semester and is offered at Hochschule Wismar in Wismar, Germany.
