Master in MA Research on Learning and Instruction

Augsburg, Germany Taught in English Open to international students

About the Program

The MA in Research on Learning and Instruction prepares students to investigate and address educational problems through rigorous empirical research. The first part of the programme covers a range of disciplinary perspectives on learning and instruction, drawing on educational psychology, educational science, subject matter didactics, and media didactics, alongside an intensive research methods curriculum. In the second part, students choose two of five specialisation areas and work on supervised empirical research projects. The five areas of specialisation are: cognitive and instructional processes of learning and instruction; motivational and emotional processes of learning and instruction; teaching and learning with media; teacher professionalism and heterogeneity; and technology-supported assessment and facilitation of learning and instruction. Throughout, students work with real empirical data under close instructor guidance rather than only discussing existing findings. The programme is designed for students from teacher education or related disciplines such as educational science, psychology, or communication science. It starts in the winter semester and is based at the University of Augsburg in Augsburg, Germany.
