Master in European-American Studies (MA)

Regensburg, Germany Taught in English Open to international students

About the Program

European-American Studies (EAS) is a four-semester interdisciplinary master's programme focused on the interactions between Europe and America. The programme centres on three main areas: spaces, regions, and spheres; mobilities and cultural transfers; and politics and responsibilities. Within these areas, students engage with performance culture, visual culture, and memory culture, drawing on the critical perspectives of transnational American Studies to examine historical developments, cultural productions, literary texts, aspects of language, economic factors, and politics. Students begin with an introduction to the fundamentals of transnational American Studies before moving into courses from the three main pillars. The programme includes ten courses, a Master's thesis, and a freely selectable project or practical component such as an internship. The curriculum also allows for a practical internship in an area of the student's choosing. Graduates of EAS have gone on to work in international organisations, cultural institutions, political institutes, and academia. The programme starts in the winter semester and runs for four semesters. The programme is based at the University of Regensburg in Regensburg, Germany.
