Master in Cognitive Systems: Language, Learning, and Reasoning

The MSc in Cognitive Systems: Language, Learning, and Reasoning at the University of Potsdam is a two-year programme covering computational linguistics, machine learning, and knowledge representation and reasoning. The programme is jointly taught by the Department of Computer Science and the computational linguistics and psycholinguistics groups within the Department of Linguistics. Spanning 4 semesters and starting in the winter semester, the curriculum builds from foundational modules in its first semester — covering mathematics, computer science, and linguistics according to each student's background — through to advanced elective modules, two project modules, and an individual research module. Students develop skills in building computer systems that process language and that learn, reason, and solve problems. The programme ends with an MSc thesis, the first substantial independent research project for each student. The programme is offered at the University of Potsdam in Potsdam, Germany.
