Berlin International University of Applied Sciences

Bachelor in BA Interior Architecture / Interior Design

Berlin, Germany Taught in English Open to international students

About the Program

The BA Interior Architecture and Interior Design at Berlin International University of Applied Sciences is a 6-semester programme taught entirely in English. It focuses on the relationship between spatial environments and the people who use and inhabit them, training students to conceptualise, plan, and realise interior spaces across changing cultural contexts. The first year covers basic design skills, material and construction fundamentals, visualisation, and a historical framework. In the second year, students deepen their construction knowledge, take on interior design projects, study building services and lighting, and engage with the theory of interior architecture. The third year involves an interdisciplinary design project with students from other programmes, a client brief, an internship, and research skills development. The final semester is dedicated to a Bachelor's thesis and a Bachelor's design project chosen by the student. Interior Architecture is a protected profession in Germany; use of the title "Interior Architect" requires professional practice and registration with the Chamber of Architects. The programme begins in the winter semester and is based at Berlin International University of Applied Sciences in Berlin.
