Bachelor in Astronomy

The University of Zielona Góra offers this bachelor's program in Astronomy, taught in English over three years, or six semesters, in the city of Zielona Góra. Yearly tuition is 6000 PLN. Graduates build extensive knowledge of physics grounded in mathematics and the natural sciences, developing the ability to give a rigorous description of physical phenomena and to use modern measurement equipment and technical diagnostic systems. The program also builds skills in collecting, processing, and transmitting information, and graduates reach English fluency at the B2 level of the Council of Europe's Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, alongside familiarity with specialist language used in the physical sciences. Astronomy as a discipline covers the study of celestial objects, their physical properties, and the instruments and methods used to observe and measure them, drawing heavily on physics, mathematics, and increasingly on data analysis and computing. Graduates are prepared for work connected to the production, use, and maintenance of modern navigation technologies, measurement and diagnostic technologies, and communication technologies. The program also prepares graduates for education, since completing a teaching specialty within the program grants full rights to teach physics once a second-cycle, or master's, degree has also been completed. Graduates additionally gain the competence needed to operate and supervise equipment that requires a basic grounding in physics. Beyond navigation and technical roles, astronomy graduates commonly find work in observatories, research institutions, technology companies, and scientific instrumentation, applying their physics-based training to fields ranging from satellite systems to environmental monitoring, alongside further study at the master's or doctoral level for those pursuing a research career.
