About the Program

Architecture and Urban Planning is a master's degree program at Poznan University of Technology, based in Poznań, Poland, running 4 semesters, or 2 years, and taught in English. The Faculty of Architecture at Poznan University of Technology is committed to studying and teaching Architectural Science, Design Technologies, and Urban Design Planning, offering both undergraduate coursework, currently only in Polish, and graduate coursework and research programmes in the built environment, organized around the two core disciplines of design and planning. Teaching covers a wide range of themes through lectures, fieldwork, and studio courses, aiming to bring together knowledge, methodology, theory, and professional skills within project-based work. Undergraduate education focuses on architectural design studios intended to freely develop students' investigative approach, creative personality, and way of thinking, alongside coursework in the history of architecture, drawing, painting, building technology, and structure. The 1.5-year Master of Architecture, open to bachelor's degree graduates in architecture, is described as developed specifically to teach new techniques, sharpen design skills, and keep students abreast of current theory. Teaching is supplemented by critics and theorists from various countries, introducing students to contemporary issues and trends in design and urban planning, alongside individual research projects. Architecture as a field combines technical, artistic, and planning knowledge in the design of buildings and cities, while urban planning focuses on the organization of land use, infrastructure, and public space at a larger scale. Graduates of programmes in this field commonly work in architecture and planning offices, public administration, or construction and real estate. Applicants must register in the recruitment system and upload a legalized or apostilled bachelor's diploma, a transcript of records, a certificate of English proficiency at a minimum of B2 level, a passport photocopy, a CV, and a portfolio.
